Mission

Playing piano is like a puzzle requiring fluid finger-work, a tuned inner ear, and intuitive musicality...each element requires development and honing. With consistent kindness and patience, Johanne endeavours to help students feel they are always making progress and feel a sense of accomplishment as they work to master each element of musical expression. When those elements come together it's pure magic! These are the wonderful "ah ha!" moments when confidence and resilience blossom. Johanne is an extremely intuitive and sensitive instructor, focusing on building rapport with her students so they can feel free to experiment and explore the expressive language through which music speaks. All the skills students learn at the piano are transferable to any other instrument, this is the beauty of starting with piano lessons.

What to Expect

1. A supportive and friendly learning environment 2. Open dialogue, so you can share your dreams and goals.

3. The balanced approach: instruction in technique, ear training, literacy, historical context, theory, rhythmic accuracy, and above all...musical expression. 5. Intuitive approach to continuous progress (always striving to move forward, but maintaining a pace that matches the needs of the student)

6. 2-4 annual opportunities to perform in student recitals 7. Diligent preparation and support for RCM exams if desired 8. Monthly billing (payment invoices are sent at the end of each month, 24 hrs notice needed for cancellations, replacement lesson times offered but not guaranteed)
